Tapanuli Utara Arabica comes from Tapanuli Utara Regency in North Sumatra.
It was registered as a geographical indication on 12 November 2020, number IDG000000098. On this map Tapanuli Utara borders three other coffee GI regions: Humbang Hasundutan (Sumatera Lintong Arabica), Toba (Toba Arabica) and Tapanuli Selatan (Sipirok Arabica). The province has eleven coffee GI regions, nine arabica and two robusta. BPS recorded 99,064 hectares of coffee in North Sumatra in 2024, producing 91,695 tonnes, nearly all of it from smallholder farms.
