Pasuruan Robusta comes from Pasuruan Regency in East Java and was registered as a geographical indication on 23 August 2019.
Its registration number is IDG000000084. DJKI's GI catalogue names distinctive caramel and spice aromas, and explains that the spice can come from enzymatic processes within the bean itself. Pasuruan has two coffee GIs: this robusta and Pasuruan Arabica, registered in 2022. East Java has eight coffee GI regions on this map, including the only excelsa GI, in Jombang.
