Jombang Excelsa grows in almost every village of Wonosalam, in Jombang Regency, East Java, according to DJKI's catalogue.
It was registered as a geographical indication on 2 April 2024, number IDG000000139, and the species is excelsa, the only excelsa GI on this map. The map treats excelsa as a species of its own, not a kind of liberica.
