Sumatera Merangin Robusta comes from Merangin Regency in Jambi and was registered as a geographical indication on 10 December 2020.
Its registration number is IDG000000100. This robusta is processed natural, honey and washed. DJKI's GI catalogue records scores above 80 for all three, with a complex cup: caramel, fruit, chocolate, durian, kedondong (ambarella), brown sugar, vanilla, spice and a hint of grape, a floral aroma, and bitterness. Merangin borders Kerinci, home of Sumatera Koerintji Arabica, and is one of two robusta GIs in Jambi, with Sungai Penuh; the province also has Koerintji arabica and Tungkal liberica.
