South Sumatra has five coffee GI regions on this map, all robusta: Semendo, Empat Lawang, Pagaralam, Ogan Komering Ulu Selatan and Lahat.

BPS recorded 267,435 hectares of coffee and 219,586 tonnes of production in the province in 2024, the largest figure in that year's provincial table out of a national total of 813,345 tonnes, and all of it from smallholder farms. The oldest GI is Semendo Robusta (2015), the youngest Lahat Robusta (2024). Two producers from South Sumatra are listed as National Winners in the Cup of Excellence Indonesia: Kiki Richardo Gumalag of Pengentaan, Semendo, in 2021 with 86.99, and Buyung Syafrullah (Ghesam Padi), position 6 in 2022 with 86.35. Both lots were washed, with Ateng and Typica among the varieties.
