Bantaeng Arabica comes from Bantaeng Regency in South Sulawesi and was registered as a geographical indication on 16 August 2022.

DJKI's GI catalogue puts it in the specialty grade category, with a complex, balanced cup led by gula aren (palm sugar), a strong acidity, high sweetness, balanced bitterness and a rather thick body. Bantaeng borders three other coffee regions on the map: Kahayya Arabica in Bulukumba, Rumbia Arabica in Jeneponto, and Topidi in Gowa, the Malino arabica origin.
