On this map Riau has one coffee region, Rangsang Meranti Liberica, from Rangsang Island in Kepulauan Meranti Regency.
The coffee is liberica, one of three liberica GIs on the map, registered on 2 May 2016 under number IDG000000041. DJKI's GI catalogue describes a clean acidity, a medium to strong body, a long aftertaste and strong sweetness. BPS recorded 4,912 hectares of coffee and 1,834 tonnes of production in Riau in 2024, all of it from smallholder farms; those figures cover the whole province. The other two liberica GIs are in Jambi, Tungkal Liberica, and in West Kalimantan, Kayong Utara Liberica.
